Behind the white-stuccoed facade of one of Kensington's finest garden squares lies a meticulously appointed five-storey townhouse that requires an equally meticulous housekeeper. The property is a carefully curated blend of Georgian architectural integrity and contemporary living — original cornicing and marble fireplaces sit alongside a bespoke Italian kitchen, underfloor heating throughout, and a private cinema room in the lower ground. The principal's art collection, which includes works by several significant contemporary British artists, is displayed throughout the house and requires knowledgeable, careful handling.

The household consists of a single professional — a senior figure in the financial services sector — who travels frequently but expects the property to be in flawless condition at all times, whether he is in residence or not. He entertains occasionally, hosting intimate dinners for 6-8 guests, and receives family visitors from abroad two or three times a year. A private chef visits three evenings per week, and a gardener tends the rear courtyard garden fortnightly. You will be the sole daily presence in the house, and the principal places enormous trust in this role.

Your working day runs from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. Core responsibilities include daily cleaning and presentation of all five floors — paying particular attention to the reception rooms and master suite — care of a substantial wardrobe including bespoke suits, cashmere, and hand-finished shirts (a pressing station with a Miele rotary iron is provided), bed linen rotation, flower arranging from a weekly delivery by a Mayfair florist, management of the cleaning supplies inventory, and coordination with external contractors for window cleaning, chimney sweeping, and deep carpet treatments. You will also handle dry-cleaning runs, collect parcels, and occasionally prepare the house for overnight guests.

We are looking for someone who takes visible pride in their work — the kind of housekeeper who aligns cushions by instinct, who knows the difference between caring for silk velvet and cotton velvet, and who would never leave a fingerprint on a polished surface. You are discreet, reliable, and self-directed, comfortable working independently without supervision. Previous experience caring for fine art, antiques, or listed properties is essential.
